TEACHER BANNED FROM PROFESSION INDEFINITELY.
The TRA disciplinary panel examined the allegations listed in the notice of hearing dated 6 August 2025, which had been amended during the hearing process.The case involved claims that Mr Adams engaged in behavior that was deemed unacceptable and potentially damaging to the teaching profession’s reputation.
The specific accusations included: 1a.
While working as a mathematics teacher at Sunninghill Preparatory School, approximately between April and August 2020, he was found to have up to 20 indecent images of children.
1b.
On or about 29 January 2021, he was cautioned by the police for possessing an indecent photograph or pseudo-photograph of a child, related to an incident occurring on 11 April 2020, which violated the Criminal Justice Act 1988 section 160.

During his employment at Lockyer’s Middle School in February 1997, he allegedly failed to maintain proper professional boundaries with Pupil A, by sending him a Valentine’s Day card and an inappropriate handwritten message inside.

The conduct outlined in allegations 1a, 2a, and 2b was considered to have been sexually motivated.
Mr Adams made a limited admission, only accepting responsibility for possessing a single Category C image and the police caution associated with it.
The panel regarded this admission as equivocal and thus treated it as a denial.
He completely admitted to allegations 2a and 2b, and also admitted to allegation 3 in connection with allegation 1a, based on the same admission.
He denied allegation 3 as it related to allegations 2a and 2b.
Because his admission on allegation 3 was equivocal, the panel considered this part as denied.
He agreed that his conduct concerning allegations 1a, 1b, and the relevant part of allegation 3 was unacceptable and could damage the reputation of the teaching community.
He also accepted this classification for allegations 2a and 2b.
Conversely, he disputed that his behavior as described in allegation 3 was unacceptable or would tarnish the reputation of the teaching profession, regarding allegations 2a and 2b.
Ultimately, the panel imposed an indefinite ban on Mr Adams from practicing as a teacher.
