RISLEY PRISONER BREACHED RESTRAINING ORDER AGAINST WOMAN HE BIT
A PRISONER is to spend longer behind bars after breaching a restraining order while he was serving his sentence.
Reon Davies was jailed for three-and-a-half years in February last year for biting his then-girlfriend after she asked him to help with the housework, while he was in bed hungover.
The 35-year-old, a convicted rapist from a previous conviction, was also made the subject of a restraining order, prohibiting him from contacting the woman he bit.
But he appeared back in court recently having been charged with breach of a restraining order.
Warrington Magistrates’ Court heard how the breach, which Davies admitted, was committed on June 25, with Davies serving his sentence in HMP Risley, explained Nicola Parr, prosecuting.
This was imposed after he was convicted of two counts of assault occasioning actual bodily harm and one count of assault by beating.
The defendant assaulted his partner on two occasions, strangling and slapping her on one occasion and biting her on the wrist on another.
Having been sent to Risley, he breached his restraining order by contacting the victim.
Davies, still of HMP Risley, admitted the breach and was handed a further 12 weeks behind bars by magistrates.
He was also ordered to pay costs to the Crown Prosecution Service of £85 and a victim surcharge of £154.
Magistrates said that the breach was ‘so serious’ that only a further custodial sentence could be justified, and an immediate one at that.
They highlighted how the offence was committed while Davies was in prison and against the same victim, with the Probation Service also deeming him to pose a ‘high risk of harm’.
