REHAN AND HALEEMA BAIG SHOCK BRADFORD'S GREAT HORTON WITH HORRIFIC CRIMES INVOLVING ANIMALS AND CHILDREN

In a disturbing case that has sent shockwaves through the community of Great Horton, Bradford, Rehan Baig, aged 37, and his wife Haleema Baig, aged 38, have been linked to a series of heinous crimes involving animal abuse, child exploitation, and possession of illegal substances. The details of their offenses emerged during court proceedings, revealing a pattern of depravity that has left many residents appalled and seeking justice.

According to court records, the investigation was initiated after the National Crime Agency (NCA) executed a search warrant at the Baigs' family home on Shepherd Street in Bradford in July 2019. Authorities acted on intelligence suggesting that Rehan Baig was in possession of indecent images of children. During the search, officers seized various computer equipment and discovered a disturbing collection of digital material. Among the files were 49 indecent images of children, some of which depicted children as young as six years old in the most serious categories of abuse. These images were part of a larger cache of extreme pornographic content, including homemade videos that featured Baig and, on some occasions, his wife engaging in sexual acts with animals.

The court heard that some of these videos, stored under the file name “Family Vids,” showed Baig performing sexual acts with chickens and, in some instances, with his wife, who was recorded filming these acts on her mobile phone. The footage was described as lengthy and explicit, illustrating acts that would undoubtedly cause revulsion among any morally upright individual. The images and videos revealed a disturbing pattern of animal abuse, with Baig engaging in sexual intercourse with chickens and a dog, while his wife was complicit in filming some of these acts.

Judge Richard Mansell QC, presiding over the case, condemned the acts as profoundly sickening, stating that they would “make any right-thinking member of society sick to their stomach.” The judge emphasized that these acts were committed for Baig’s own “depraved sexual gratification,” highlighting the severity of the crimes.

Rehan Baig pleaded guilty to multiple charges, including three counts of making indecent images of children, three counts of possession of extreme pornography, three counts of sexual intercourse with an animal, and two counts of possession of controlled drugs. As part of his sentence, he was banned from keeping animals and was placed on the sex offenders’ register for life.

Haleema Baig, on the other hand, received a six-month suspended sentence, which will be active for 18 months. She was also ordered to attend 20 days of rehabilitation. Additionally, she was placed on the sex offenders’ register for a period of seven years. Her involvement was primarily related to filming her husband’s acts, and she admitted to aiding and abetting in the filming of the sexual acts with the chicken.

Earlier in July 2020, Rehan Baig had already admitted to having sex with chickens, specifically two counts of intentionally performing acts of penetration with his penis on the cloaca of a living chicken, including both brown and white chickens. He also pleaded guilty to possessing extreme pornographic images that depicted explicit acts involving animals, a dog, and children. Furthermore, Baig admitted to possessing 405mg of cocaine and 4.07g of cannabis resin.

Haleema Baig faced similar charges concerning possession of illegal substances and extreme pornographic images but initially denied some of the allegations. She later pleaded guilty to three counts of aiding and abetting by filming her husband’s sexual acts with a chicken. The court scheduled their next appearance at Bradford Crown Court on September 25 to allow for the preparation of psychiatric and pre-sentence reports, which will likely influence the final sentencing decisions.
