DOVER MAN JAILED FOR CHILD SEX ABUSE AND POSSESSION OF INDECENT IMAGES

A paedophile who sexually abused two girls more than two decades ago is now behind bars.

Raymond Baxter, from Dover, assaulted the girls, who were both under 10, in the 1990s in Peterborough, Cambridgeshire.

He assaulted one of the girls once and the other on six occasions.

During the investigation, a search was executed at Baxter’s residence in Clarendon Place, Dover, where computer equipment was confiscated.

Analysis of the devices revealed indecent images of children containing 50 category C images, 24 category B, and 30 category A (the most severe).

Alongside these, extreme pornographic material involving animals was also discovered.

Baxter, aged 59, was arrested and during interview denied sexually assaulting the girls.

He claimed the images appeared on his computer after a virus infection.

His trial at Cambridge Crown Court resulted in a guilty verdict on all counts, including seven counts of indecently assaulting a girl under 14, three counts of making indecent images of children, and one count of possessing an extreme pornographic image.

Subsequently, he was sentenced to eight years and six months imprisonment, and he will be on the Sex Offenders Register indefinitely and subject to a Sexual Harm Prevention Order.

The police expressed relief at finally bringing him to justice and emphasized ongoing efforts to protect children and support victims.
