WOODINGDEAN PAEDOPHILE CONVICTED OF CHILD PORNOGRAPHY OFFENSES

A father of two, Raghib Karsho, aged 36, from Woodingdean, has been found guilty of serious child abuse offenses involving the downloading of child pornography and possession of extreme pornographic images. Nearly three years ago, law enforcement officials visited his residence on Warren Way after becoming aware of indecent images uploaded from that address. During the investigation, officers seized two Samsung mobile phones. These devices contained numerous obscene photographs, including pre-teen children engaged in sexual acts. The prosecutor, Francis Lloyd, stated that 76 of the images were classified as category A, the most severe, with 62 as category B and 104 as category C. Additionally, police found an image depicting extreme pornography involving sex with an animal. Karsho was accused of downloading approximately 250 illegal images over several dates in the year prior to his arrest. At trial, the defendant claimed that his phones might have been hacked or that the images were downloaded during repairs, but tests showed no signs of hacking or malware. He also alleged that a refugee charity support worker or a man named Steve could be responsible. However, the judge summarized the evidence, highlighting that police found the images on his phones and that he denied possessing a phone initially but was later caught with one. The jury took less than an hour to unanimously convict him on all four charges. Raghib Karsho is currently awaiting sentencing and was remanded on bail until a further hearing scheduled for November 5.
