LIVERPOOL COUPLE JAILED FOR ILLEGAL DOG BOARDING AND ANIMAL NEGLECT
A court found that Rachel Dempsey, along with her husband Owen, had been operating an illegal pet services business without proper licensing.They advertised pet boarding services and were implicated after dogs under their care, including Tank and Shadow, suffered fatality and went missing in suspicious circumstances.
The investigation revealed that they earned over £3,000 from their unlicensed dog boarding operations.
They have been sentenced with a 12-month community order, 12-week curfew, and a ban from owning or boarding dogs for seven years.
The court also condemned their conduct as "amateur" and "incompetent at best".
Additionally, Shadow, a German Shepherd, disappeared while in their care, inspiring a campaign for his safe return.
The couple's history includes prior convictions for dangerous driving and other offenses.
Owen Dempsey received further sentences for assault and breaching community orders, including 16 weeks in jail.
The case highlights ongoing concerns about unlicensed pet care providers and animal cruelty.
