FLINTSHIRE MAN SENTENCED FOR SENDING INDECENT IMAGES
A FLINTSHIRE man who sent indecent images to a police officer posing as a child has been spared jail.
Phillip Woodcraft, of Old Aston Hill, Ewloe, appeared at Caernarfon Crown Court for sentencing on Monday (June 9).
The 43-year-old initially denied attempting to engage in sexual communication with a child aged 13-15 and attempting to cause a child to watch an image of a sexual activity.
However, on the morning of his trial, Woodcraft pleaded guilty to both offences.
Prosecutor Laura Knightly stated that Woodcraft was arrested at his home on March 30, 2023, after a police officer posed as a 13-year-old girl on social media.
Despite the 'girl' mentioning her age, he sent indecent images of himself, asked to see a photo of her body, and requested roleplay and fantasy.
Woodcraft has 19 previous convictions for 14 offences, none similar.
His defense argued he was misusing alcohol and drugs during the offence and living chaotically.
The judge sentenced him to 16 months imprisonment, suspended for 18 months, and ordered 10 days of rehabilitation.
Additionally, Woodcraft is subject to a sexual harm prevention order and sexual offender notification requirements for 10 years.
