PHILLIP HARRIS

Phillip Harris, aged 58, committed his crimes between 1989 and 1991 when his victim, who is now in his late 40s, was a child.

The victim later reported the abuse to South Wales Police in 2023 after sharing his experience with his partner.

During his arrest, officers conducted a search of Harris's residence and recovered several electronic devices, which contained a number of indecent images, including those classified as Category A.

Harris faced multiple charges: six counts of indecent assault of a minor under 16, five counts of gross indecency involving a boy under 14, buggery of a boy under 16, three counts of making indecent images of a child, and possession of an extreme child pornography image, to which he pleaded guilty.

He denied charges of indecent assault of a minor under 16 and gross indecency of a boy under 14, but was convicted after a trial held in March 2026.

During his victim impact statement, the complainant expressed feeling "trapped by memories and an ongoing sense of loss," emphasizing how Harris—the defendant—had taken away his innocence, something irretrievable.

On April 17, 2026, Harris appeared at Newport Crown Court where he received a 15-year prison sentence.

Additionally, he was ordered to comply with a Sexual Harm Prevention Order and mandated to register as a sex offender.
