RAPIST PHILIP PARK SENTENCED TO PRISON AFTER CONFESSING TO HEINOUS CRIMES
A man named Philip Park, aged 50, was found to have committed serious sexual offenses including two rapes and three sexual assaults. When police arrived at his home in Beaufort Road, Southbourne, to investigate an incident, he confessed to the rapes by telling officers, “I’m guilty mate.
Lock me up.” The police found the property vandalized with graffiti reading "Die rapist, die" and Park cowering under a duvet upstairs.
Park had previously carried out other sexual assaults, including an incident on September 15, 2009, at his residence where the police discovered the house smashed up.
Park had attacked a 16-year-old girl after she consumed wine he purchased for her, and another teenager during a 10-minute assault.
He also conducted other sexual assaults, with the court hearing that he did not have previous sex convictions and these attacks were not habitual.
Park admitted to two rapes, three sexual assaults, and two assaults by penetration, with two other sex offences ordered to lie on file.
He was described as “dangerous” by Judge Roger Jarvis and sentenced to an indefinite jail term with a minimum of four years before parole consideration.
The court revealed that Park had a history of heavy alcohol and cannabis use and was making efforts to change.
