MAN JAILED FOR BREACHING RESTRAINING ORDER AFTER DOMESTIC VIOLENCE COURT HEARING
A man arrived at his partner’s residence bearing flowers but, following a heated argument, he restrained her with a headlock, a court was told.
Parfitt, aged 28 and residing at Logos House on Wade Street, admitted to violating a restraining order and assault.
Judge Mr.
Llewellyn Sellick sentenced him to two years in prison.
Prosecutor Naomi Aylwin stated that Parfitt visited Miss Beasmore’s home and brought her flowers.
After she returned from purchasing tobacco for him, the couple argued.
During the dispute, Parfitt allegedly grabbed and pulled her, prompting concerned neighbors to contact police.
The judge addressed him, remarking: "It is clear that your actions had a significant impact on her, causing her considerable distress.
You openly defied the restraining order for a prolonged period." Defence lawyer Mr.
Barry explained that the argument that day included Parfitt attempting to embrace her.
He acknowledged that Parfitt’s behavior escalated to a headlock, which resulted in redness around her neck.
The court was also informed that Parfitt has been in custody since November last year, amounting to roughly eight months served.
