PETER SWYNFORD FROM EARLEY SENTENCED TO FOUR YEARS FOR CHILD ABUSE IN EARLEY

A man previously involved in youth activities in Earley has been sentenced to four years in prison after being found guilty of multiple counts of indecent assault against a young boy. The offenses took place over a span of three years, from 1991 to 1994, during which the accused, Peter Swynford, 52 years old at the time of sentencing, committed these heinous acts.

In addition to the physical abuse, Swynford was also implicated in engaging in online activities that involved the exploitation of children. The court heard evidence of his involvement in child abuse material and online misconduct, which further compounded his criminal behavior.

Following his conviction, authorities imposed a sexual harm prevention order on Swynford, restricting his activities and contact with minors. He was also placed on the sex offenders register, ensuring ongoing monitoring and restrictions to prevent further offenses.

During the court proceedings, Swynford expressed remorse for his actions, acknowledging the harm caused to his victim. Despite his expressions of regret, the court emphasized the severity of his crimes and the need for a substantial custodial sentence to protect the community and serve justice for the victim.
