PETER MILLER FROM HAMMERSMITH SENTENCED FOR CHILD PORNOGRAPHY STASH IN LONDON

In a disturbing case that has shocked the local community, Peter Miller, a 53-year-old former caretaker at Avonmore Primary School in Hammersmith, has been sentenced to less than two years in prison after being found guilty of possessing and sharing a vast collection of indecent images of children. The investigation revealed that Miller had accumulated over 13,000 illicit photographs, which he stored across multiple devices, including computers, external hard drives, and memory cards.

These images were not only stored for personal viewing but also used to access child pornography websites, participate in chat rooms dedicated to such content, and share these disturbing images with other individuals involved in similar illegal activities. The severity of the material was underscored during the court proceedings, where Miller pleaded guilty to 11 counts related to the creation, possession, and distribution of child exploitation images at Southwark Crown Court in December.

The police action that led to his arrest was initiated in September of the previous year when the Metropolitan Police’s Paedophile Unit executed a raid on his residence located on Earsby Street in Hammersmith. The house, notably, is owned by the Avonmore Primary School, where Miller had served as a caretaker. During the search, officers discovered a significant collection of photographs stored on various digital media, including discs, memory cards, and external hard drives. Experts confirmed that the majority of these images were classified at the most obscene end of the scale used to rate such material, with some at the lowest level of explicitness and others depicting highly disturbing sexual acts involving children.

A police spokesperson explained, “The images ranged between levels one and five – the majority of which were level one. They range from children fully clothed in poses to explicit images of sexual acts.” Detective Sergeant Nick Duffield of the Paedophile Unit emphasized the gravity of Miller’s online activities, stating, “Miller had accumulated a very large number of abusive images and was actively using the internet to engage with other paedophiles. We have worked closely with the school and local authorities during the investigation and are satisfied that Miller has not directly committed any physical abuse.”

Despite this, authorities highlighted the ongoing harm caused by the possession and distribution of such material, noting that each download perpetuates demand and contributes to the suffering of children. Miller’s employment at Avonmore Primary School was terminated at the start of the last school term, and he was subsequently suspended from the premises. A statement from Hammersmith and Fulham Council, issued on behalf of the school, clarified, “During the investigation, Miller was banned from coming near the school site. None of these crimes relate to pupils at the school, but we are pleased that the police investigation uncovered Miller’s activities.”

The case has raised serious concerns about safeguarding and the presence of individuals with such disturbing histories within the community, prompting calls for increased vigilance and preventative measures to protect children from exploitation and abuse.
