While in prison, he was recorded during a phone conversation instructing his friend Gareth Meecham to pay the victim £2,000 in exchange for dropping the charges.
The recorded incident revealed physical assaults such as punching, biting, and pressing his shin against her neck to restrict her breathing.
During their 2.5-year relationship, MacKay engaged in multiple violent behaviors, including an initial attack on October 14 last year with a punch to her arm, followed by incidents where he pushed her onto a settee, threatened her with death, and physically assaulted her, causing various injuries.
The court also heard that he damaged her door trying to break into her home.
MacKay admitted to charges of assault causing actual bodily harm, common assault, and attempting to pervert the course of justice.
With 36 previous convictions, he was sentenced to 30 months in prison and given a 10-year restraining order preventing him from entering Ynysybwl.
