In a recent development in the case of Peter Kewley, a 69-year-old man from Douglas, the Isle of Man courts have upheld his prison sentence after an appeal was filed against it. Kewley was originally sentenced to ten and a half years in prison at Douglas Court House last September for a series of heinous crimes involving the abuse of children.

During the appeal hearing on 16 February, Judge of Appeal Geoffrey Tattersall presided over the case and delivered a firm decision to dismiss the appeal. Judge Tattersall emphasized that the case warranted a very substantial custodial sentence, underscoring the severity of Kewley's actions. He stated that the sentence was not only meant to serve as a punishment for Kewley but also as a deterrent to others who might consider committing similar offenses.
