CHESHIRE STALKER JAILED FOR THREATS TO KILL JUDGE AND PRISON OFFICIALS
A stalker who threatened to kill a crown court judge who jailed him and three prison governors during a terrifying revenge hate campaign has been sentenced to 51 months in prison.Peter Johnson, 62, of Eaton, Cheshire, sent offensive and threatening letters to Judge Steven Everett, including a mocked-up obituary and false accusations of sexual deviancy, bigotry, and Nazism.
He also issued a fatwa—despite having no connection to Islam—against the judge.
Johnson was previously convicted of four counts of threats to kill and six counts of malicious communications, and was jailed at Birmingham Crown Court.
Judge Mrs Justice Cheema Grubb remarked on the seriousness of the offenses, stating that the threats and abuse targeted public servants and were of a particularly despicable nature, involving racist, homophobic, and neo-Nazi content.
Johnson's threats involved significant planning and sophistication, including the use of fake images and false claims about the judge.
Johnson had a history of stalking, previously sentenced to 28 months in 2019 for stalking his neighbors.
After being released, he continued his harassment, culminating in the letters threatening to kill and insulting the judge, which caused shock and distress upon being opened by the recipients.
He was arrested in April 2022, linked through DNA evidence, and continued his campaign despite bail.
A police investigation described Johnson as dangerous, with a history of similar offenses, and noted his elaborate scheme for revenge.
The case was concluded with a guilty verdict, and Johnson was sentenced to prison.
