NORTH WALES MAN JAILED FOR LIFE FOR STALKING AND MURDERING EX-PARTNER
Peter Davies, a 50-year-old man, has been sentenced to life imprisonment after being convicted of murdering his ex-partner Kerry Edwards in North Wales.
The court heard that Davies stabbed Kerry to death on their daughter's ninth birthday in July 2004.
He was jealous of her new relationship but initially denied murder, admitting manslaughter on the grounds of diminished responsibility.
The jury at Chester Crown Court took 90 minutes to reach a verdict.
The prosecution presented evidence that Edwards was left dying in her car after multiple stab wounds, having been stabbed several times with a seven-inch knife.
The court described Davies' actions as stemming from ongoing jealousy, with the judge explicitly stating, "In the last two weeks of Kerry Edwards' life, you planned and you stalked her.
You lied to the police in interviews and you pleaded not guilty." The court also noted Davies’ history of harassment, and he was convicted of affray and previous bail conditions that prohibited him from approaching Edwards.
The sentence reflects the severity of the crime, and the case has been characterized as a domestic homicide driven by jealousy and stalking.
