PETER DAVIES OF LLANBRADACH SENTENCED TO 15 YEARS FOR CHILD SEX OFFENSES IN CAERPHILLY
In a significant case that has shocked the community of Llanbradach and the wider Caerphilly area, Peter Davies, aged 67, has been sentenced to 15 years in prison after being found guilty of multiple serious sex offenses committed during the 1980s.The conviction follows a detailed trial at Cardiff Crown Court, where Davies was charged with a total of 17 counts related to the abuse of two young girls.
According to the prosecution, Davies, who resides on Richmond Close in Llanbradach, engaged in a series of disturbing acts of indecent assault and indecency with minors.
The court heard that the offenses took place when the victims were between the ages of 8 and 12, and that Davies was between 29 and 34 years old at the time of the abuse.
The jury deliberated extensively before reaching a verdict that found him guilty on all counts.
During the proceedings, Clare Wilks, the prosecutor, detailed the nature of the crimes and read aloud a heartfelt victim personal statement from one of the young girls.
The statement expressed the profound and lasting impact of Davies’s actions, stating: “This has affected me greatly.
I have suffered panic attacks, depression, and anxiety.” The court was also informed that the victims felt intimidated and disgusted by Davies’s conduct, which compounded the trauma they endured.
It was revealed that Davies had a troubling history of previous convictions related to sex offenses.
In 1971, he received a conditional discharge for indecent assault, and in 2009, he was sentenced to eight months in prison for sexual assault.
Despite these prior convictions, he continued to deny any wrongdoing in this case, maintaining his innocence throughout the trial.
The judge, after considering the evidence and the severity of the offenses, handed down a 15-year prison sentence, reflecting the gravity of the crimes committed and the need for justice for the victims.
The case has once again brought to light the importance of safeguarding children and the ongoing efforts of law enforcement to bring offenders to justice in the Caerphilly region and beyond.
