CHILD SEX OFFENDER JAILED FOR HIDING SECRET PHONE WITH INDECENT IMAGES
A paedophile identified as Peter Davidson has been sentenced after authorities discovered his secret mobile phone concealed beneath a chest of drawers.Davidson, aged 31, was required to disclose any new online usernames or accounts and make devices available for inspection due to a prior conviction involving indecent images of children.
Despite these obligations, he was found with an undisclosed mobile device equipped with software designed to hide browsing history and IP address.
Court records from Aberdeen Sheriff Court detail that Davidson had been previously convicted in 2017 for offences related to indecent images and sexual communication with a minor, leading to his inclusion on the sex offenders register and a sexual offences prevention order in 2018.
In the investigation, police examined messages exchanged via Facebook Messenger during a trip to London in November 2021, where Metropolitan officers visited his phone.
Subsequent searches in March 2022 at his address revealed a hidden Motorola phone under his bedroom furniture which had not been disclosed to officers.
Forensic analysis confirmed the device contained multiple indecent images and videos of children, mostly Category C with one Category A content.
The device also had software installed to block search history and maintain anonymity online.
Davidson had used a Kik Messenger account under a false name and created a fake Google account, violating his court-imposed restrictions.
He admitted to eight charges, including possessing indecent images and breaching his sexual offences prevention order, along with failing to notify police of online accounts.
His legal representative acknowledged a negative social work report but noted he's been engaging with mental health and trauma services while on remand.
The court sentenced Davidson to two years and two months in prison and placed him under notification requirements for ten years.
