GLASGOW CHEF JAILED FOR LIFE FOR PARTNER'S MURDER
A chef from Glasgow named Peter Cumming was found guilty of murdering his partner, Lynda Brown, just before a dinner gathering. The assault took place on 1 September 2012 at their residence on Mannering Road, when Cumming stabbed Ms Brown four times in the back.
The court was informed that Cumming had a history of domestic abuse towards Ms Brown, who was 63 years old.
He admitted to the murder and received a life sentence, with a minimum of 14 years to serve.
The judge described the crime as incredibly senseless and noted its devastating impact on the victim’s family, referring to it as a particularly brutal murder.
The judge also emphasized that Ms Brown was entirely innocent.
The killing followed an argument during which Cumming claimed that he "snapped" after Ms Brown told him she had already eaten.
He described himself as being 'out of control' and stated he did not know where the knife came from, claiming he was attempting to maintain control during the attack.
During the assault, Ms Brown managed to call 999, reporting that her partner was threatening her with a knife, but she was fatally stabbed when the violence intensified.
The court highlighted that their relationship was strained, exacerbated by Cumming’s drinking and prior violent tendencies.
His actions resulted in a particularly savage crime that inflicted significant trauma on Ms Brown’s loved ones.
