PETER CADWALLADER FROM BRIGHTON AND WICK SENTENCED FOR CHILD SEX IMAGE OFFENSES

In a significant case brought before Lewes Crown Court, Peter Cadwallader, a resident of Greenfields, Wick, was sentenced to a total of four years in prison after admitting to a series of serious charges related to the possession and distribution of indecent images of children.

The court proceedings, which took place on a recent Friday, culminated in a conviction that underscores the ongoing efforts of law enforcement to combat online child exploitation.

Cadwallader faced multiple charges, including the distribution of over 2,000 indecent images depicting children, possession of such images with intent to distribute, and possession of extreme adult pornography.

These charges stem from an investigation that uncovered disturbing evidence of his involvement in the circulation of illicit material.

The guilty plea was entered during an earlier hearing, setting the stage for the sentencing that followed.

Detective Constable Martin Harmer of Sussex Police provided insight into the case, emphasizing the severity of Cadwallader’s actions.

He stated, “Cadwallader distributed a large number of indecent images of children, and these charges represent only a percentage of the distribution offences we discovered.

The images cover a wide range of disturbing sexual offending against vulnerable young children.” Further details reveal that police investigations began in 2009 when authorities received information indicating Cadwallader was actively distributing these illicit images, some of which depicted children as young as eight years old.

In August of that year, law enforcement officers executed searches at his residence on Arundel Street in Brighton.

During the search, computer equipment was seized and subjected to forensic analysis, which confirmed the presence of illegal material.

DC Harmer reiterated the police’s commitment to pursuing such cases relentlessly, stating, “This sentence sends yet another message that we will relentlessly follow up any such information.

The internet is not a hiding place for depravity and we will do everything in our power to trace these people and bring them to justice.” As part of his sentencing, Cadwallader received four years for the distribution and possession of extreme and higher-level images, with an additional three-year sentence to run concurrently for related possession offences.

Upon release, he will be subject to an indefinite Sexual Offences Prevention Order and will be registered as a sex offender, ensuring ongoing monitoring and restrictions aimed at protecting the community from potential reoffending.
