A man from Perth, identified as Peter Alexander, found himself in serious trouble after an incident that took place in the city’s Kirkgate Mews. The events unfolded on October 24, when witnesses passing by the residential area observed a heated argument between Alexander and his girlfriend. According to reports presented at Perth Sheriff Court, the witnesses overheard loud and aggressive shouting coming from the property, prompting them to stop and look closer to understand what was happening.

Depute fiscal Nicole Lewis explained that the witnesses, who were walking past the flat, noticed Peter Robertson Alexander, aged 21, engaging in a confrontational exchange with his partner. As the argument escalated, Alexander became visibly agitated and hostile. Witnesses reported that he then took a violent action, striking a window at the flat multiple times. The repeated blows caused the glass to shatter, with shards falling onto the street below, creating a dangerous situation for passersby.

Ms. Lewis further detailed that one of the witnesses recognized Alexander’s partner’s brother. Concerned about the incident and the apparent injury, the witness decided to contact the brother to inform him of what had transpired. Shortly after, the brother entered the property and observed Alexander with a bleeding arm, indicating that the altercation had resulted in some physical injury to himself. The police were called to the scene, and officers attended the location to investigate the matter.

Upon arrival, law enforcement officers cautioned Alexander and took him into custody. During the police interview, Alexander admitted to acting aggressively towards his partner, specifically acknowledging that he had been shouting loudly and had struck the window, which subsequently broke. The court was informed that Alexander resides on Green Road and that he was already subject to a community payback order involving unpaid work, which was under review at the time of the incident.

In light of these events, the court considered the case and the circumstances surrounding Alexander’s actions. His defense requested that sentencing be deferred until the review of his existing community order was completed, allowing for a more comprehensive assessment of his situation. Sheriff Ian Anderson agreed with this approach and decided to postpone the sentencing hearing until December, providing time for further review and consideration of appropriate measures moving forward.
