GORSLAS MAN ADMITS DOMESTIC ABUSE AND COERCIVE CONTROL IN COURT
Perry Dyson, a 30-year-old man from Brynlluan in Gorslas, has admitted to physically and verbally abusing his partner as well as gambling away her money online. He appeared before Swansea Crown Court charged with two offences.
Dyson was accused of engaging in controlling or coercive behaviour between December 1 of the previous year and August 20 of this year, which caused his partner to fear violence would be used against her.
The prosecution also alleged that he physically assaulted, verbally abused, and strangled her, and used her money on gambling sites without her knowledge.
Specifically, he admitted to coercive control but pleaded not guilty to strangulation, which he was charged with on August 19.
The court was told that Dyson might change his plea on the coercive control charge to exclude the strangulation offence.
Judge Paul Thomas KC adjourned the case until December 16 for the Crown Prosecution Service to determine whether the pleas and any basis offered are acceptable.
Dyson was re-bailed until that date.
He also admitted coercive control during his court appearance, while the allegation of strangulation remains contested.
The case continues to be ongoing with a future hearing scheduled.
