BEXHILL MAN JAILED FOR LIFE FOR MURDERING EX-PARTNER
Paul Withers, aged 22, was convicted of the homicide of Lauren Masters, aged 20, at her home on Sutherland Avenue, Bexhill, on August 28.According to court records, Withers stabbed Ms.
Masters 23 times with a kitchen knife.
Ms.
Masters had contacted emergency services, begging for help and warning that she was about to die after being attacked.
After the assault, Withers ran away from the scene but later contacted the police using a fake name, reporting screams coming from the flat.
When police arrived, they found Ms.
Masters with several stab wounds to her face and body.
It was revealed in court that the couple had two children but that Ms.
Masters had told Withers she wanted to end their relationship.
On the day of her death, they had gone to Hastings to buy shoes but had an argument upon their return.
During this confrontation, Withers took a kitchen knife and fatally wounded her, then fled the scene.
The police were able to trace the call to Withers, who later confessed to the murder.
He received a life sentence at Hove Crown Court, with a minimum term of 24 years.
Court officials described the attack as vicious and deliberately planned, noting Withers showed no remorse.
The family of Ms.
Masters expressed deep grief, stating that he had demonstrated himself as a contemptuous individual who had not one ounce of remorse for taking Lauren’s life.
They stated she did not deserve to suffer and die in such a way.
