MAN HAS BEEN JAILED FOR ATTEMPTING TO CAUSE A WOMAN TO ENGAGE IN SEXUAL ACTIVITY AFTER OFFERING HER A LIFT
Paul Williams, aged 58 and residing on Rosebery Avenue in Liscard, appeared at Liverpool Crown Court on 3 February 2026 to receive his sentence after being convicted following a trial held at the same court. The jury delivered a guilty verdict on 11 December.
The incident involved a victim walking along Willaston Road in Neston on the morning of 21 June 2025, during which she paused for a rest.
A vehicle stopped nearby, and the driver, Williams, called out asking if she wanted a lift.
She entered the car and requested to be taken to an address further ahead.
Instead of reaching that destination, Williams drove past it and took her to a remote, single-track road.
Williams then demanded payment, despite her telling him she had cash.
He refused her money and exposed himself, then attempted to prevent her from leaving the vehicle.
The victim managed to flee, running to a nearby house to seek assistance.
Subsequent police investigations linked Williams to the scene at the time of the offence, leading to his arrest and the seizure of his vehicle.
