PAUL TAYLOR OF LEEDS SENTENCED FOR ANIMAL CRUELTY INVOLVING DOGS IN METHLEY
Paul A Taylor, born around 1990 and residing at 109 Embleton Road, Methley, Leeds LS26 9DA, was convicted in 2025 for failing to treat injuries sustained by his 'working' dogs. The animals' injuries were consistent with signs of animal fighting.Taylor faced prosecution for animal cruelty after West Yorkshire Police’s Wildlife Crime Unit (WCU) conducted an investigation. During a search of his home, officers discovered three lurcher dogs and a terrier, all with untreated wounds. In court, he admitted to causing unnecessary suffering to a protected animal on two counts and neglecting to ensure the dogs' welfare on two counts.
He acknowledged that the dogs belonged to him and revealed that none of them had seen a veterinarian while in his care. The animals have since been removed from his custody and are scheduled for rehoming.
Sergeant Andy Katkowski from WCU, who led the investigation, stated: “These dogs were found in an appalling condition and were clearly all in need of veterinary care. I would urge anyone who suspects somebody is mistreating or neglecting animals to please report it to us so we can investigate.”
As part of his sentence, Taylor received 150 hours of unpaid work and a five-year ban on owning dogs, which will remain in effect until February 2030.
