MOODIESBURN MAN JAILED FOR SEXUALLY ASSAULTING TWO WOMEN
A man named Paul Slaven has been sentenced to 16 months in prison after he sexually assaulted two women while they were in his bed.The incident occurred at his home in Ardoch Way, Moodiesburn, in January of the previous year.
The victims, who were fully clothed, had stayed over at Slaven's house after socializing.
During the night, one woman went to bed fully clothed, and her friend joined her to avoid being alone, with Slaven in the middle.
The prosecutor, Annette Ward, revealed that at one point, Slaven grabbed and rubbed one woman's friend's breast when she went to the toilet.
Later, around 6 am, another assault occurred when Slaven's hand was under one of the women's clothing, touching her private parts.
The victims managed to leave the house after waking early in the morning, with one sending a Snapchat message to her friend about the assault.
Slaven admitted to assaulting the women in court, and Sheriff Derek Livingston placed him on the sex offenders register for 10 years.
The judge rejected the possibility of a non-custodial sentence, citing the seriousness of the offences and the lack of mitigating factors like remorse or record.
Slaven, 30, has no previous convictions and expressed remorse, though he has no memory of the assaults due to intoxication.
The court considered a two-year jail term but sentenced him to 16 months, emphasizing that drink and drug use are not excuses for his actions.
