Stockton-on-Tees Rapist
A man named Paul McQuade, from Stockton, has been found guilty of several serious sexual crimes. During a trial at Teesside Crown Court in July, he was convicted of three counts of rape, one attempted rape, and three assault charges that resulted in actual bodily harm. Following the trial, he received a sentence of 26 years in prison at Leeds Crown Court. The Domestic Abuse Solutions Team of Cleveland Police commended the victim for her exceptional bravery and determination in coming forward to report the abuse, which occurred over a span of nine years from 2002 to 2011. Detective Sergeant Ali remarked, "The victim demonstrated remarkable courage and resolve in reaching out to law enforcement and revealing the abuse she endured years ago. She was required to relive her trauma by giving evidence in court, but the jury ultimately saw through McQuade’s falsehoods and found him guilty on all charges." The victim’s act of reporting was described as a rare display of bravery, and authorities expressed hope that her and her family’s sense of relief would come from the justice now achieved, ensuring McQuade can no longer pose a threat to others.
