KNOTTINGLEY PAEDOPHILE SHOWED NO REGRET AFTER SEXUALLY ABUSING YOUNG GIRL FOR YEARS
A convicted paedophile who sexually abused a young girl over several years has been sentenced to 13 years in prison.Paul Marshall, residing on Yew Tree Walk in Knottingley, displayed no remorse or regret for the harm he inflicted on the victim.
Following a four-day trial in March this year, a jury unanimously convicted the 61-year-old of 10 charges, including one count of rape, eight counts of indecent assault, and one count of indecency with a child.
The victim struggles with emotional intimacy, feels exposed and vulnerable, and often reports feeling "emotionless and numb." She also copes with depression and low self-esteem.
In addressing the court, Recorder David Gordon stated to Marshall: "She had her innocence stolen from her." He further added: "It has taken her many years to find the courage to report the abuse and seek justice." Marshall has no prior criminal record.
He was ordered to register as a sex offender for life and is subject to an ongoing sexual harm prevention order (SHPO).
