EARLESTOWN MAN CHARGED WITH RAPE, FALSE IMPRISONMENT, HARASSMENT
DETECTIVES have charged a man as part of an ongoing investigation into serious sexual and domestic abuse.On Monday, July 21, armed police were deployed to Legh Street in Earlestown following reports that a man was in possession of a bladed weapon and making threats.
Following enquiries, police arrested a 38-year-old man and have now charged Paul Doherty, of Legh Street, with a series of offences.
With Doherty appearing yesterday at Sefton Magistrates Court on Wednesday, July 23, he has been charged the following offences: Rape a woman 16 years of age or overFalse imprisonmentThree counts of Harassment – Breach of a Restraining OrderThree counts of using threatening/abusive/insulting words/behaviour to cause harassment/alarm/distressRacially/ Religiously aggravated harassment/alarm/distress by words/writingStalking involving serious alarm/distressIntentional strangulationAssault a person thereby occasioning them actual bodily harm The 38-year-old has been remanded in custody to next appear at Liverpool Crown Court on Wednesday, August 20.
