In a case that has shocked the local community of Stansted and the wider Uttlesford district, Paul Davies, a 47-year-old former Tory district councillor and Stansted parish councillor, has been linked to disturbing allegations involving child exploitation and extreme pornography. The legal proceedings against Davies have seen multiple delays, with his sentencing now postponed until July 11, as authorities await a comprehensive pre-sentence report.Davies was scheduled to appear at Chelmsford Crown Court on Monday, June 20, to face the charges. However, the hearing was adjourned to allow for further assessment, and the court has rescheduled his appearance for July 11. The charges against Davies stem from an earlier court appearance at Chelmsford magistrates on April 25, where he admitted to five serious offences. These included the distribution of indecent images of children, the making of such images, and possession of extreme pornography. Among the most disturbing evidence are two videos depicting bestiality, showing a person engaging in sexual acts with a dog. The case involves hundreds of videos, with a total of 385 videos and one image categorized under various levels of severity, from categories A to C.
Specifically, Davies faces three counts of creating indecent images of children, with the material involving a staggering 385 videos and one image. The charges specify that two of the videos, classified as Category A, were involved in the distribution of indecent images. Additionally, he is charged with possessing extreme pornography, which includes the two bestiality videos.
The case was transferred to Chelmsford Crown Court on May 23, after an initial hearing at magistrates' court. The court adjourned proceedings for four weeks to allow for the preparation of a pre-sentence report, which is now pending. Davies is expected to return to court next month for sentencing.
