CRICKET SAFEGUARDING OFFICER ADMITS DOWNLOADING INDECENT IMAGES OF CHILDREN
Indecent images of children were found on a laptop owned by a pensioner who was safeguarding officer at a village cricket club.He admitted downloading 14 indecent images of children between October 7 2013 and March 29 of this year.
He also pleaded guilty to having 79 pictures of extreme pornography involving animals on March 29.
The discovery was made when police officers visited his home in Crofton Road, Attenborough.
Anna Pierrepont, prosecuting, told the three JPs that police received information that he was accessing pornography of an inappropriate nature, and he fully accepted that.
The images were in the least serious category, and he served in a significant position of trust as a cricket board's safeguarding officer.
One picture depicted a girl who appeared to be aged 14 to 16.
He had never been in trouble before.
Mitigating, Nadir Prabatani, stated: "There was full co-operation with the police and he has this association with Attenborough Cricket Club." He added: "He has been married a considerable time, 47 years, and is now retired." A probation report will be compiled, and Chambers was ordered to attend the crown court on December 19.
Presiding magistrate Rex Walker said: "We have decided to commit this to the crown court on the basis we don't believe our sentencing powers for this incident are sufficient." "There will be a probation report about you and the offence and it may assist you."
