PAUL BRADSHAW FROM DUNDUMR CHARGED WITH CHILD PORNOGRAPHY OFFENSES

In a case that has sent shockwaves through the community of Dundrum, Dublin, Paul Bradshaw, a 34-year-old bookkeeper residing on Balally Avenue, was found guilty of possessing a significant collection of child pornography.

The incident came to light in late 2002 when an observant individual noticed Bradshaw engaging with explicit material involving minors and promptly alerted the authorities.

This led to Bradshaw's arrest and subsequent court proceedings.

On November 30th, 2002, police executed a search at Bradshaw's residence, uncovering an alarming cache of approximately 1,200 texts, images, and videos depicting child exploitation.

The severity of the possession was acknowledged in court, where Bradshaw pleaded guilty to the charges.

The case was heard at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court, where Judge Frank O’Donnell presided over the sentencing.

During the hearing, Judge O’Donnell noted that the Granada Institute, which provided a report on Bradshaw, classified him as presenting a 'moderate risk' of re-offending.

The judge also highlighted that Bradshaw demonstrated some insight into his actions, but the probation report revealed a complex picture.

While Bradshaw admitted to downloading the illicit material, he contested the classification of some of the content as pornographic, raising questions about his understanding and acknowledgment of the severity of his offenses.

In light of these factors, Judge O’Donnell decided to impose a three-year suspended sentence, meaning Bradshaw would not serve time in prison unless he committed another offense within the suspension period.

The case underscores ongoing concerns about the possession and distribution of child exploitation material and the importance of vigilant community reporting to combat such crimes.
