In March 2016, Ian Gordon, aged 52, received a life sentence for the killing of his partner, Ann-Marie Cropper. The court found that Gordon had subjected her to a violent campaign, leaving her with over 100 injuries. It was revealed that Gordon, who had a prior conviction for child rape, strangled Cropper after she allegedly planned to report his acts of violence. The judge described his attack as savage and rooted in domestic abuse, noting that the victim endured severe physical and emotional suffering before her death.
