Winwick Rapist
In March 2014, a Winwick man named Patrick Desmond O’Sullivan was sentenced to 26 years in prison for multiple heinous sex crimes involving children.

The 67-year-old was convicted at Warrington Crown Court on Friday of numerous charges, including rape, sexual assault of a child under 13, and engaging in sexual activity with a minor.

O’Sullivan, residing on Myddleton Lane, committed these offenses in Warrington between January 2005 and December 2012. His victims included two girls aged between 11 and 15, whom he raped, as well as another girl of the same age who was subjected to sexual abuse.

He had initially pleaded not guilty to 20 charges listed on the indictment. However, after a five-day trial, the jury convicted him on counts three through twenty.

It was revealed during the case that O’Sullivan has prior convictions for sex offenses involving another young girl, and authorities described his tendencies as “part of his make-up.”

He was acquitted of two counts of rape involving an adult woman.

Following the sentencing, Detective Constable Deborah Carter from Cheshire Police remarked, “This man has been convicted of horrific serious sexual offences, multiple rapes committed against children.

He has targeted his victims and manipulated circumstances to afford him the opportunity to commit this vile abuse. It is not possible to comprehend the impact this has had on the victims; they have been left traumatised and their lives destroyed.”

Detective Chief Inspector Nigel Wenham added, “Patrick O’Sullivan will be over 100 years old when he is released. He is a predatory paedophile who abused children in the most horrific way possible. I would encourage anyone who has concerns or is being abused to come forward, speak to us, and we will help.”
