WOLVERHAMPTON MAN JAILED FOR RAPE AND HARASSMENT AFTER REMORSEFUL PHONE MESSAGE
A 22-year-old man named Pashminder Samra from Rosemary Crescent West, Wolverhampton, was convicted of raping a woman after waiting outside her home and persuading her to go for a drive. He took her to a lay-by on the A464 near Shifnal, where he raped her.
After the assault, Samra drove her back home and sent her a text message stating: "The devil has gone out of me - pure Romeo now." He then sent another message saying: "I am sorry for everything.
I am sorry for making you have sex and I will not bell or text you again." At Wolverhampton Crown Court, Judge Michael Challinor sentenced him to two and a half years in prison and banned him from driving for two years.
The court also found that Samra possessed extreme pornography and was driving while disqualified.
The judge emphasized the seriousness of the offence and noted that despite the harm done, the victim could see remorse in his message.
