SHOCKING CRIME: MAN MURDERS WIFE OVER GAMBLING AND DRINKING DISPUTE
This is the first picture of Parvez Akthar who brutally murdered his wife, Shaeen Akhtar, a devoted mother of five, following a dispute about his gambling and drinking habits.Akhtar attacked his wife by plunging a combat-style knife into her chest after she asked him to leave their home on Wright Road in Washwood Heath on October 15th of the previous year.
Despite frantic efforts by family and emergency services performing CPR, Shaeen Akhtar was pronounced dead at the scene.
Akhtar, who was unemployed, admitted to the murder and was subsequently sentenced to life imprisonment at Birmingham Crown Court, with a minimum of 20 years to serve before he can be considered for parole.
Police circulated his picture during his sentencing.
Further investigations revealed droplets of blood on his clothing and shoes, which matched his wife's DNA, confirming his involvement.
He was later arrested after police spotted his vehicle in Cotterills Lane shortly after the murder.
Her heartbroken family expressed their grief in a tribute, stating: “Our amazing, caring, beloved mother passed away on the 15th October 2017.
We hope she is in a better place, looking down on us and nodding her head in approval.
We want to tell her and the world, she will always be in our hearts.” Detective Inspector Paul Joyce described the incident, saying: “Mrs.
Akhtar confronted her husband when he returned home around 4 pm after a night of drinking.
An argument erupted, and he refused to leave.
Without warning, and in front of his children, he stabbed Mrs.
Akhtar in her chest.
He then drove off but was quickly caught by police, who found him behind the wheel in Cotterills Lane.
This tragic event highlights the dangers of carrying knives, as Akhtar routinely carried a combat knife for protection, which ultimately led to this horrendous attack.
Authorities urge the public to report suspected knife carriers to prevent such tragedies.
