OWEN PELLOW SENTENCED FOR BRUTAL MURDER IN BURNHAM-ON-SEA

Owen Pellow, a man found guilty of the heinous murder of his former partner, Lisa-Marie Thornton, was handed a life sentence with a minimum term of 17 years by the court. The tragic incident took place on the 23rd of November at their shared residence on Berrow Road in Burnham-on-Sea, Somerset. According to court proceedings, Pellow launched a violent and frenzied assault on Lisa-Marie, stabbing her more than 30 times in a brutal attack that shocked the local community.

Initially, Pellow attempted to deny responsibility, claiming that Lisa-Marie’s injuries were self-inflicted. However, the evidence presented at Bristol Crown Court was overwhelming, and the jury found him guilty of her murder. The post-mortem examination confirmed that Lisa-Marie Thornton, aged 36, succumbed to multiple stab wounds inflicted during the attack. The court recognized the attack’s savage and relentless nature, leading to the imposition of a life sentence on Pellow.

Lisa-Marie’s daughters have been left devastated by the loss of their mother, describing their grief as overwhelming and heartbreaking. Her mother also expressed her profound sorrow, describing the loss as indescribable and emphasizing the deep pain that her family continues to endure.

Senior officer Andy Mott of Avon and Somerset Police characterized the attack as both brutal and frenzied. He also noted that Pellow refused to accept responsibility during the trial, which added to the severity of his sentencing. While the case has brought some measure of closure to Lisa-Marie Thornton’s family, the emotional scars and the tragedy of her untimely death remain deeply felt within the community of Burnham-on-Sea.
