OFFENDER SENTENCED FOR ALCOHOL-FUELED ATTACK ON PARTNER IN LLANDUDNO
A man named Osasuyi Odeh, aged 37, was involved in a domestic violence incident during a holiday in Llandudno.
He attacked his partner with a vodka bottle, leaving her with a severe head wound that required 12 staples.
The incident occurred after a dispute at a fish and chip shop in Conwy, when Odeh returned to their hotel in Llandudno.
There, he pushed his partner onto the bed, threatened to harm himself, threw a laptop at her knee, and assaulted her with the vodka bottle while instructing her to "stay here." The victim lost consciousness and sustained a significant head injury, which she described as making her paranoid, and she is still experiencing pain and receiving medical treatment.
Odeh's history includes two prior convictions for domestic violence and drink driving, as well as a previous suspended jail sentence of 12 months.
During sentencing at Mold Crown Court, Judge Nicola Saffman noted that "the root of all this is your drinking, you were clearly intoxicated to a great extent during your time spent in Llandudno." Odeh pleaded guilty to unlawful wounding and causing criminal damage, and was sentenced to 21 months in prison—half to be served behind bars and the rest on licence.
Additionally, a five-year restraining order was issued to prevent any contact with the victim, and Odeh was ordered to pay a statutory surcharge.
