YEMENI MIGRANT WITH CHILD ABUSE VIDEOS AVOIDS JAIL AND DEPORTATION
A Yemeni migrant named Osamah Al-Haddad, aged 26, was found with three videos of child abuse on his phone.
Among these was a particularly grotesque video showing a man engaging in sexual acts with a goat.
Al-Haddad was intercepted at Heathrow Airport after arriving from Cairo in January of the previous year.
Despite the seriousness of his offences, he was spared jail and deportation, with Isleworth Crown Court citing fears that he might be forced to join the Houthis' military forces if returned to Yemen.
Al-Haddad had initially entered the UK on a student visa and sought asylum, fearing repercussions from the Houthis who were seeking his father.
He was sentenced to a 30-week suspended prison term, meaning he will remain in the UK until his asylum application is processed.
During his hearing, it was disclosed that the material was discovered when immigration officers searched his phone.
Al-Haddad admitted to making indecent images of children and a pseudo-photograph of a child, claiming the videos were sent by a friend via WhatsApp.
The judge described the category-A video involving bestiality as grotesque and depraved, highlighting the fact that it involved a real child and was saved since August 2021.
In addition to the suspended sentence, he was ordered to comply with a 10-year sexual harm prevention order and complete 150 hours of unpaid work.
