CHILD SEX OFFENDER OLIVER MACE RECEIVES SUSPENDED SENTENCE IN GREENHAM
A MAN has been sentenced for a child sex offence.
Oliver Mace appeared in the dock at Reading Magistrates’ Court on Friday, October 10.
At a previous hearing the 26-year-old, of Dickens Walk, on The Nightingales estate in Greenham, admitted sexually assaulting a female child in the Newbury postal region on a specific date last year.
Magistrates ordered pre-sentence reports.
They stipulated these should be prepared on an ‘all options’ basis, including custody.
They also warned that they reserved their right to send the matter to be dealt with by a judge sitting at Reading Crown Court on a date to be fixed should they deem their own powers of punishment were insufficient.
At Friday’s sentencing hearing Mace also admitted possessing the Class B-controlled drug cannabis in Newbury on July 18, and failing to surrender to bail on August 5.
After reading pre-sentence reports, magistrates made Mace subject to 26 weeks imprisonment, suspended for 18 months.
In addition, he was ordered to pay £85 costs, plus a statutory victim services surcharge.
Finally, Mace was ordered to sign the Sex Offenders Register for five years.
