OBERT MOYO FROM LITTLE HULTON SENTENCED TO LIFE FOR BRUTAL MURDER IN SALFORD

Obert Moyo, a man residing on Pennington Road in Bolton, has been handed a life sentence in prison after being found guilty of the murder of Perseverance Ncube, a 35-year-old mother of two. The tragic incident took place in the early hours of November 10 last year on Dukesgate Grove, Little Hulton, Salford. The court proceedings revealed that Moyo’s actions were the culmination of a prolonged and disturbing campaign of stalking that began after his breakup with Ms. Ncube.

According to the evidence presented, Moyo had broken into her home in an attempt to confront her. Despite her children, aged 10 and 12, attempting to intervene and fend him off, he managed to carry out a violent attack. The court heard that Moyo initially entered her residence and assaulted her in her bedroom, but her children managed to drag him away from her. Undeterred, Moyo then pursued Ms. Ncube down the street and carried out a stabbing attack, inflicting fatal injuries.

Prosecutor Eloise Marshall KC described the harrowing scene, noting that the children could be heard on the 999 emergency call praying desperately for their mother’s life. Moyo fled the scene immediately after the attack but was apprehended later that same day in Bolton. The tragic loss of Ms. Ncube has left her family devastated. Her loved ones described her as a 'loving and devoted mother,' emphasizing the profound impact her death has had on her children. Her son expressed his grief, saying, 'Me and my sister have been robbed of our mother and our whole life. Every day I miss her, I miss being able to hug her. I miss talking to her. Mum, I miss you and I will always love you.' Her daughter also shared her anguish, stating, 'You have stolen my mum from me. I really thought that you were a father to me but you are not… I hate you.'

Judge Patrick Field KC sentenced Moyo to life imprisonment with a minimum term of 27 years. In his remarks, the judge described the crime as 'premeditated, brutal and wicked,' highlighting the severity of the act. The court also noted that Moyo was on licence from a previous 14-year sentence for attacking another woman following a prior relationship breakup. The judge emphasized that Moyo’s actions appeared to be driven by jealousy, especially after Ms. Ncube began a new relationship. Police described Moyo as a 'dangerous and violent man who would not accept her relationship was over,' underscoring the threat he posed to others and the seriousness of his conduct.
