A man named Norman Wilson, aged 48, from Oakenfield, Burgess Hill, West Sussex, has been sentenced for animal welfare offences after an 11-week-old kitten, Tiny Tim, suffered fatal injuries.
Wilson had previously admitted to harming the kitten, which resulted in injuries described as non-accidental, including blunt force trauma to the head and abdomen.
The injuries were so severe that Tiny Tim had to be put to sleep, according to the RSPCA.
Wilson was sentenced to 10 weeks in jail, suspended for a year, and was also given a 20-day rehabilitation order and ordered to pay £425 in costs.
The case was heard before Brighton magistrates, with evidence from a pathology and veterinary report confirming non-accidental injuries.
Additionally, Wilson's wife, Carrone Wilson, 49, pleaded guilty to failing to protect the kitten from pain, suffering, injury, or disease by not exercising reasonable care and supervision, which led to the injuries.
She received a 12-month conditional discharge and was ordered to pay £200 in costs, with her case heard in her absence on June 15.
