POLICE OFFICER SEXUALLY ABUSED 9-YEAR-OLD GIRL WHILE ON DUTY IN PATROL CAR
A former police officer has received an 18-month prison sentence after being convicted of sexually abusing two young girls, one of whom was assaulted while he was on duty in a patrol car.
Norman Harvey, who served as a police officer in Grampian, exploited his authority to commit the abuses and to silence his victims, according to information presented at Aberdeen Sheriff Court.
Despite his efforts to keep the incidents secret, the two victims eventually came forward.
Following a three-day trial, the 73-year-old former sergeant was convicted on three counts.
The jury, by a majority verdict, found Harvey guilty of three charges involving lewd, indecent, and libidinous conduct towards the girls during the 1970s and 1980s.
Harvey's lengthy career with Grampian Police spanned over thirty years.
