ABERDEEN MAN GETS COMMUNITY ORDER FOR KNIFE ATTACK OVER PUPPY SALE
A machete-wielding individual identified as Noah Assurreira stabbed a male during a chaotic knife fight on Hayton Road in Aberdeen, related to a dispute over a puppy sale.Assurreira, aged 21, armed himself with a machete after spotting a man walking a puppy he alleged he had not been paid for.
The confrontation quickly escalated, with both parties swinging blades close to a family of four passing by, narrowly avoiding injury.
Assurreira managed to plunge the weapon into his victim's back, leaving a six-inch deep wound.The incident occurred on December 19, 2022, when the victim was walking the dog around 1 pm.
The victim was initially approached by Assurreira in a vehicle, and after an altercation, the victim left the scene.
Later, he returned to find Assurreira approaching him on the same road, threatening to take his life and striking him on the head with a beer bottle.
Assurreira then pulled out a large machete and attacked him, stabbing him in the back.
The victim was taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary, where it was confirmed he had a 4cm long and 6-inch deep puncture wound, along with spinal injuries.Assurreira pleaded guilty to charges of assault causing severe injury and danger to life.
During court proceedings, his lawyer attributed the incident to 'negative influences' and claimed Assurreira had moved away from certain associates.
The court acknowledged the severity of the injury but decided to sentence him to a community order, including 300 hours of unpaid work, three years of supervision, and rehabilitation requirements.
The judge emphasized the risks associated with carrying weapons and stated that such an incident could have been far worse, but also noted that the victim was also armed, making the case complex.
The sentence aimed to rehabilitate the offender, highlighting the potential for change given his youth and circumstances.
