2002: MAN JAILED FOR SEXUAL ASSAULT AT BUS STATION
Nigel Price, a 38-year-old resident of Waresley Park in Hartlebury near Kidderminster, admitted to inappropriately touching a teenage boy.He received a 12-month imprisonment after an incident at Bromsgrove bus station on January 13 of the previous year, during which he restrained the boy in a bathroom stall.
Price grabbed the teenager’s shoulders, pulled him inside, and refused to release him until the boy agreed to meet again two hours later.
The distressed youth confided in his mother's partner, prompting police investigation.
During the encounter inside the stall, Price sexually assaulted the boy, covering his mouth to suppress his cries when another individual entered.
In police interviews, Price claimed he believed the boy, whom he thought was 17, was interested in a homosexual relationship, and he had misinterpreted the situation.
The defense argued that Price was not inherently inclined to abuse boys, citing his sexuality and long-term relationship, with attractions mainly to men aged 25 to 30.
The judge emphasized that as a known under-16, the youth should not have been subject to such misreading of signals, condemning Price’s conduct as child abuse.
