Inverness Child Abuser
In a disturbing case that has shocked the community of Inverness, Nigel Gordon, a 59-year-old man, has been found guilty of possessing a vast collection of indecent images and videos depicting child exploitation. The investigation into Gordon’s activities was initiated after police executed a search warrant at his residence on Pinewood Drive, following reports of inappropriate and illegal material being stored on his devices.

During the search, law enforcement officials uncovered over 22 hours of highly disturbing footage, which included a total of 1,142 indecent images of children and 260 videos. The content was classified into various categories based on severity, with some videos identified as Category A—the most serious classification. These videos depicted extreme acts of abuse, including the sexual assault of a toddler, with the total runtime of the footage approaching 23 hours. The graphic nature of the material underscored the severity of the crimes committed.

The police investigation revealed that the illegal content spanned a period from July 12, 2015, to December 5, 2023. Nigel Gordon was brought before Inverness Sheriff Court, where he faced a charge related to the taking, permitting to be taken, or making of indecent photographs of children. During the court proceedings, authorities emphasized the gravity of the material found, which included exploitation and abuse content that is considered among the most heinous forms of child sexual exploitation.

Preliminary examinations of the electronic devices recovered from Gordon’s home confirmed the presence of child sexual exploitation material. The court heard that the evidence was substantial and deeply troubling. Sheriff Ian Cruickshank ordered that Gordon be immediately registered as a sex offender, with the length of registration to be determined at sentencing. Currently, Gordon is residing in temporary accommodation, and he has been granted bail to appear again in court this coming October. The court also mandated a social work report and a restriction of liberty assessment to evaluate his risk and the appropriate measures for his rehabilitation and supervision.
