MAN JAILED FOR SERIOUS SEXUAL ASSAULT ON YOUNG TEENAGER
A teenage girl has been praised for her bravery after helping to bring a Kirklees man to justice for a serious sexual assault.Kirklees safeguarding investigators have expressed their support following the sentencing of Nico Barraclough, 33, at Leeds Crown Court on 23 February, for multiple sexual offences involving a young teenager in the Kirklees region.
Nico Barraclough Authorities commended the courage of the victim, who initially disclosed the assault despite Barraclough’s attempts to silence her about his crimes.
Barraclough, residing on Bradshaw Lane in Honley, received a sentence of 11 years in prison, with an additional three years on extended licence, after being convicted of rape, causing a child to observe a sexual act, and two counts of engaging in sexual activity with a minor.** The incidents occurred between July 2023 and April 2024, and police became involved after the victim reported what had happened.
An investigation led by specialist officers from the Child Safeguarding Unit resulted in Barraclough’s arrest on 15 April.
Following further inquiries, he was charged and appeared before magistrates two days later.
