PPS WEIGHS UP CROWN COURT FOR CO. ANTRIM PAEDOPHILE NICHOLAS SHAW
A man from County Antrim has made an appearance in court facing charges related to the possession and distribution of indecent images of a child. On Thursday, Nicholas Shaw, aged 35, stood before Ballymena Magistrates Court and acknowledged his understanding of the four allegations he faces.
The first charge, which pertains to an incident allegedly committed on 13 June of the previous year, accuses Shaw, who resides in Willowbrook, Kells, of improperly using a telecommunications service to send an indecent message or material.
He also faces additional accusations of possessing, creating, and distributing indecent images of a minor, which are said to have occurred on 24 September of this year.
While the specific details of the case’s background were not disclosed during the hearing, law enforcement officials indicated during their testimony that they believed they could link Shaw to each of the alleged offences.
A request was made to postpone the case by a month, with a prosecuting attorney informing the District Judge Nigel Broderick that the matter might be transferred to the Crown Court for indictment.
Shaw was ordered to return to court on 4 December, and he was released on bail pending that hearing.
