DESPICABLE MAN DOWNLOADED CHILD ABUSE IMAGES OF CHILDREN AS YOUNG AS THREE AND VIEWED EXTREME PORNOGRAPHY INVOLVING BESTIALITY

A man from Doncaster appeared in Sheffield Crown Court to face charges related to the possession of child abuse images depicting children as young as three, as well as materials classified as extreme pornography involving bestiality.

The court proceedings on June 9 revealed that police officers, acting on information, conducted a raid at Nicholas Page’s residence in Askern on November 23, 2020.

During the search, multiple electronic devices, including an Acer laptop, were confiscated.

Prosecutor Neil Coxon stated that Page, aged 60 and residing on Lakeside Rise, was detained on suspicion of creating indecent images of children.

Subsequent forensic analysis of his devices uncovered several illegal images.

It was revealed that the laptop contained various indecent images, including 27 of the most severe Category A.

In addition, Page had downloaded 31 images and three videos categorised as B, alongside 15 images and one video in Category C.

The seizure also included 88 images and one video classified as extreme pornography, some featuring acts of bestiality.

When questioned after his arrest, Page claimed to police that he visited certain websites that he described as questionable but denied downloading images of children.

Investigators discovered four software programs on his laptop capable of rendering viewed files inaccessible.

The images’ victims ranged in age from three to 15, predominantly between eight and ten years old, as outlined by the prosecution.

During interrogation, Page admitted responsibility for the content stored on his devices, acknowledged conducting online searches for pornography, and suggested that some illegal images might have been downloaded while he was attempting to find lawful adult content.

Prior to these charges, Page had no criminal record.

He maintained that he had no sexual interest in children.

Eventually, he pleaded guilty to three counts related to making indecent images of children across different categories, along with a single charge of possessing extreme pornography.

Defence counsel Ella Embleton highlighted the delay in bringing the case to court and the restrictive bail conditions that had been in place for 19 months, citing these as factors mitigating her client’s culpability.

The judge, Recorder Ian Mullarkey, considered additional mitigation such as marital issues and the potential consequences of imprisonment for those close to Page.

Ultimately, the court sentenced Page to a 12-month prison term, suspended for 18 months.

He was warned about the broader harm caused by viewing such images, which perpetuate the illegal trade.

Additionally, he was ordered to complete 40 days of rehabilitation activities, perform 120 hours of unpaid work, be subject to a 10-year sexual harm prevention order, and register as a sex offender for the same period.
