NICHOLAS JARMAINE SENT TO PRISON FOR SEXUAL OFFENCES IN BEDALE

In a case that has shocked the community of Bedale, Nicholas Jarmaine has been sentenced to a total of 58 months in prison following his conviction on multiple serious charges related to sexual offences involving a minor.

The incident came to light after Jarmaine, a former hotel manager from Thirsk, was found guilty of grooming a 14-year-old girl and engaging in activities that exploited her vulnerability. The court proceedings revealed a disturbing pattern of behavior that led to his conviction on several counts.

Among the charges, Jarmaine was convicted of making indecent images of children on two separate occasions, which resulted in a sentence of 30 months imprisonment, to be served concurrently. Additionally, he was found guilty of possessing a Class B drug, which carried a sentence of 16 months imprisonment, to be served consecutively to his other sentences. The most serious charge involved meeting a girl under the age of 16 after grooming her, which resulted in a 27-month prison term.

The court also took into account the need to protect the community, especially minors, from Jarmaine’s predatory behavior. As part of his sentence, he was placed on the sex offenders register for a period of five years. The court explicitly prohibited him from meeting, attempting to meet, or remaining in the company of any female under the age of 16. Furthermore, Jarmaine was barred from making any form of contact—whether directly or indirectly—with female children under 16, including through writing, text messaging, telephone calls, or electronic means such as the internet.

The restrictions extended to his possession and use of electronic devices. Jarmaine was ordered not to own or possess any device capable of accessing the internet unless he makes that device available for inspection by police officers. He was also prohibited from using any means to hide or delete his web browsing history or online activity, ensuring ongoing monitoring of his internet use.

In addition to his imprisonment and registration requirements, Jarmaine was ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £120, a financial penalty aimed at supporting victims of crime. The sentencing reflects the court’s firm stance on protecting minors from sexual exploitation and ensuring that offenders are held accountable for their actions.
